Winemaking: Cartuxa Tinto is a blend of Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez grapes planted in the oldest vineyards of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. When the grapes are considered perfectly ripe, they are carefully harvested and taken to the winery for destemming, gentle crushing, and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a 26-day maceration period and then 15 months of aging in new French oak barrels. The wine is aged in the bottle for 18 months before release.
