The Dão region is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Portugal, known for producing elegant and balanced wines. Located in the north-central part of the country, in mountainous terrain protected by mountains, the Dão benefits from a moderate climate, with cold winters and hot summers, ideal for cultivating high-quality vines.

Characteristics of Dão wines:

• Red wines : These are the most emblematic of the region, standing out for their elegance, structure, and aging potential. The most commonly used grape varieties are Touriga Nacional , the star grape of the Dão region, as well as Tinta Roriz , Jaen , and Alfrocheiro . Dão red wines typically have smooth tannins, complex aromas of red fruits, spices, and floral notes.

• White wines : They are fresh, mineral and delicate, with good acidity. The main white grape varieties include Encruzado , Malvasia Fina and Bical , resulting in aromatic wines with citrus and floral notes, as well as excellent aging potential.

Dão wines are appreciated for their finesse, balance, and complexity, reflecting the diversity of the region's terroir. They pair well with meat dishes, game, and cheeses, and are highly valued by wine enthusiasts.
